What are those words which you find yourself saying in your head?
you know, those negative statements which seems to have hung over us like a label.
What I have found with clients is that these words have been said over us at some point, maybe by a teacher, parent or by other kids in school. And we begin to accept them as a word to describe ourselves. Sometimes we assume these words for ourselves when our self esteem or self worth is low, we just do not see value in anything that we do but rather all these negative words. You may have your own words which you know you tell yourself all the time.
"You'll never amount to much" " you are so stupid" "you're so useless"
Turning the volume down on our negative talk in our heads and turning up the positive affirming words is a crucial thing to learn for anyone who has little value on themselves.
Counselling can help. If you are battling with low self esteem, do get help from a professional therapist who can guide and support you to find a better internal voice that builds you up and doesn't destroy you.
